Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 3-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Shift: Full-Time, 8-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Compensation: $30/hour
Position Overview: A reputable healthcare facility in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a sterile environment by ensuring that all surgical instruments and trays are properly decontaminated, disinfected, assembled, and sterilized in accordance with industry standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform the decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
Apply aseptic techniques consistently and conduct thorough quality assurance checks.
Operate sterilization systems including steam sterilizers, Steris, and Sterrad.
Assemble both basic and complex instrument trays according to specifications.
Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization and decontamination activities.
Respond efficiently to urgent instrument needs from surgical and clinical staff.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications (Required):
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
Basic Life Support (BLS – AHA)
