Position Title: Sr Welding Technician

Compensation: $23-25/hr
Duration: 90-day contract to hire

Location: Onsite in the Covina area

Overview:

Our client, a well-established and family-owned company, boasting over 60 years in business, has an immediate need for a Sr Welding Technician. The right candidate will have knowledge of TIG with some MIG, adept at reading/interpreting blueprints and welding process specs. You should also have experience using electric and air tools, as well as experience working with Stainless Steel and Sheet Metal, 16 18-gauge material. You should also be comfortable with structural welding from " to 6". If you've worked with Fluxcore, this is a huge plus!

Under minimal supervision, the Sr Welding Tech will perform various welding processes using electric resistance, oxyacetylene, or plasma-arc torches. May assign work to and check the work of other welders. Will be welding metals and alloys of various shapes and thicknesses according to blueprints or work orders, in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.

Essential Duties:

• Assign tasks and provide guidance to other welders.
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding specs.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment (TIG, MIG).
• Specialize in custom fabrication, structural, or production welding.
• Use electric/air tools and power tools as needed.
• Scan jobs through the Made2Manage (M2M) system.

Other Duties:

• Operate plasma cutter, assemble subassemblies, and use forklift/pallet jack/hoist as needed.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years as Welder II or 3+ years with welding certification and related courses.
• 5+ years of machine shop experience.
• Knowledge of welding materials and equipment.
• Forklift/pallet jack/hoist experience desirable.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure.

Bonus: experience with Fluxcore
