Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Columbkille Catholic School is seeking a passionate school librarian.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Promote a love of reading by recommending books, organizing reading programs, and supporting literacy initiatives.
• Organize, maintain, and update the school’s library collection, ensuring access to diverse and age-appropriate resources.
• Select, purchase, and catalog new materials to create a well-rounded library collection that meets the needs of students and faculty.
• Plan and coordinate book fairs, author visits, reading challenges, and other literary events.
• Maintain circulation records, track inventory, and oversee library policies and procedures.
• Incorporate Catholic values into library resources and activities, supporting the mission of St. Columbkille Catholic School.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Passion for fostering literacy, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, faculty, and parents.
• Familiarity with library classification, cataloging, and circulation systems.
• Ability to manage library operations efficiently and effectively.
• Proficiency with educational databases, digital research tools, and multimedia resources.
• Ability to align library programming with Catholic teachings and values.

Education and Experience
• Must hold a Nebraska teaching certificate (endorsement in library science preferred).
• Must complete a background check and Safe Environment Certification.
