Multi-Skilled Anchor - CBS Atlanta
The brand-new CBS Atlanta is building a fresh take on news, and it will look like nothing market #7 has seen before.We're looking for multiskilled Anchors to drive hyper-local journalism and our connection with the community. The ideal candidates will have a proven ability to comfortably, confidently, and conversationally communicate with interviewees and viewers.
The MSJ Anchor will work closely with producers and directors to create dynamic newscasts in state-of the-art full VR environments. Never done that before? We'll train you. Top candidates will show their appetite for owning stories every step of the way, from pitch to writing, shooting and editing. Candidates will create entertaining and enterprising content that meets station strategies, meeting the audience wherever they are, whenever they need us.
Responsibilities Clearly and competently deliver breaking news coverage and dynamic newscasts, both unscripted and scripted in live and pre-recorded formats.
Shoot and edit breaking news, day of air and special projects ensuring all pictures and sound are of the highest quality and accurately recorded
Enterprise character-driven stories, break news and advance headlines.
Establish and maintain relationships/sources within the community
Quickly gather and verify its accuracy, disseminating critical information for air
Write crisp, conversational copy that engages viewers
Must be able to interact with viewers/users on social media sites.
Be a newsroom leader who models the spirit of collaboration across the station.
Perform other duties as assigned by editorial leadership.
Qualifications B.A. degree in a related field is preferred. At least 5-10 years of top market experience.
Strong writing skills and an understanding of television news and entertainment reporting techniques are essential.
Extensive knowledge of the Atlanta market; including issues and topics that matter most to the community
Superior on-air presence with record of leading big-event, continuous coverage.
Able to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 news environment in addition to standard hours.
Must have valid driver's license.
