Position Title: Certified OR/Surgical Tech
Location: Cooperstown, NY 13326
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 3x12-hour shifts
Pay Rate: Local: $45–$50/hr | Travel: $55–$58/hr
Position Summary:
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled Operating Room (OR) / Surgical Technician to join a dynamic surgical team. The OR Tech plays a critical role in providing sterile support for cardiovascular and open-heart procedures. This position requires close collaboration with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesiologists, and other perioperative staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
Responsibilities:
Perform scrub duties for cardiovascular and open-heart surgeries
Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field throughout procedures
Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently pass instruments, sutures, and supplies
Handle and manage surgical instruments, equipment, medications, specimens, and supplies
Perform counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps per hospital policy
Assist with room setup, case turnover, and equipment preparation
Ensure proper handling and labeling of specimens
Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and sterile technique standards
Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary surgical team
Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate concerns promptly
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Active OR Tech / Surgical Technologist certification (CST or equivalent)
Cardiovascular and open-heart surgery experience required
1–2 years of recent OR experience, preferably in cardiac surgery
Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and OR procedures
Ability to work 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Excellent attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity OR environment
